I think Im going to steal b-bottom's band at gunpoint.

Of course, as soon as I took it out of the box on Chicago, it would flake apart. But the thought is nice.

ha ha. It took me over 20 years and a 10 hour move south to get a good steady band

We have our first show with our new guitar player tomorrow and I'm pretty pumped. I also got offers for like 5 more shows over the next two months. 4 of which are for MD and the other is for the Surf band. Now that both bands have the exact same members scheduling has should become a million times easier.

I'll see what I can do. We're working on regional stuff right now. But if we expand out a bit I'll of course let you know

I was in two once with the same members and it worked really well. Originals band and cover band. We started the cover band to fund recordings, tours etc for the originals band.

Played an out of town show last night. I didn't get home till around 4:30

Our first outing with the new guitar player was really successful. The only part that was a bit off was when we threw in like 30 seconds from "Outshined" at the very end of the set. But I really don't think that anyone noticed.

I had some guy standing in front of me who was yelling "Play some Oi!" After like 3 songs.
I first said....."Come on Dude". Next song I called him out for coming to the show after leaving Hot Topic (He had on checkered pants and shirt with a chain wallet and brand new Rancid T shirt) And everyone laughed. And the third time I told him that I was coming in the pit during the next song.....which I did.....and he was gone

People really seemed to dig us and we had a great time.

I've tried playing from the pit on multiple occasions, in various stages of dress/undress. Same result every time.

I have an audition tonight for a band fronted by bpocall's cousin. I think. They're related, but the Chicago O'Callaghan clan is immense.

Try out w the classic rocker cover/wedding old timers went well. Next they will send me 4-5 The Who songs to learn to see if I can be the guy from the tribute project. I did Squeeze Box on the fly tonight.

My setup sounded awesome. Eden over the 210 w the uk jazz bass.

Josh, how was ur try out?!

Eh, we rescheduled. Apparently their drummer bailed, he was in too many bands or something.

What's fun is that I could go buy a drum set, practice it until I'm back to the level of mediocrity I was 15 year ago when I stopped playing the drums, and be in 3 bands in under a week, if I wanted to. My skill level would mean far less than my willingness to show up to rehearsals.

It's really all good, though. I just found these guys while I was bored the other day and I liked their tunes well enough, so I contacted them. I have lots of other stuff going on right now, and I'm technically in a band already, we just don't really do much.

making connections with a guy I've wanted to jam with for a while now, looking at doing three-piece acoustic outlaw countrypunk.

sorta what I wanted my last acoustic gig to be, only better.

The Who Tribute Band Update:

They gave me 5 early songs to learn on 5/22 - they still seem tentative about me being their guy while I am close to buying a period authentic pbass and a fake grill cloth and badge bc I am way on board.

I am ready to practice the songs w group, and I am already anticipating how this will play out. They put just a little appropriate pressure on me being able to handle the Entwistle bass parts. I have woodshedded a little and have them down pretty well. I will more than likely show up and no one else has their parts close to the detailed nuances that I do.

What do you think?
