They are sisters .It would be great if they make it that far , they are already at the upper end of life expectancy, they are fighting off various things that old cats must deal with and often succumb to . We love'em more than anything . It's like a convalescent home here though but they do have a great vet , ...old retired kittehs

Ugh when I worked at the cat shelter those little feral fuckers would fly just as soon as you get the collar on them and freak out mid air. PITA getting set up to catch them. I still have scars from getting them down and scruffing them to go to new homes in barns ungrateful little kitties

My cat woke me up at 6 this morning fighting with another cat. And I think he just pissed on the bath mat because he is on edge. He has done that a couple of times lately, how do you stop a cat pissing inside?

Not bringing a litter box inside. The cats are toilet trained to go outside. I am sure it is just because of this other cat that one of our cats is fighting with.
I wanted to rub his nose in it but that wont help anything, would it?

If you show him what he did and make it known you're displeased it's a start.

Could also be something specific about that rug. Try removing it for awhile and see what happens.

Well it is in the wash What you think I would just leave it there?
But yeah I will keep anything of the floor in there for a while. Good tip. I do leave my cloths in there after a shower so I could see him moving to them

Hmm didn't think about bladder infection, I remember coming across that when I was looking into the other cat was pissing inside.

He is spayed but he could be. he has started doing it the same time that he is having more fights with the cat next door. I thought it might be from stress but it could be marking so he has his territory

No, it'll make things worse. The cat will have no idea why you're rubbing his nose in pee, and since it's already threatened this will just make things worse.

Marking territory is normal cat behavior, especially if that territory is threatened by another cat. If the cat is marking and not just urinating putting a litterbox at the spot won't help at all.

If the cat is unaltered getting it spayed or neutered will help but what I think you need to do is think like a cat. Remove the threat, then remove the urine - remembering that a cat's sense of smell is about six times better than yours.

Cats *must have* a place where they feel secure. We have a new puppy so we put up a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs leading to the second floor - the cat can jump over the gate but the puppy can't.

The thing to remember is that marking is a natural response to a cat's territory being challenged. Remove the threat and the issue resolves itself

So by remove the threat, you mean feed the cat next door to the pigs

Though if the cat is in pain or sick it will find a soft place to pee. Its a hard habit to break that is why I put a little box in the area they feel comfortable and don't ruin the floor.

I didn't mean to suggest you leave a pissy rug there-- I meant there might be something specific about that rug that is pissing him off. Shouldn't need to clear the entire area, just the offending article. When it's done washing stick it up out of the way somewhere it won't bother him and see if the peeing stops or if he moves on to something else.

Every cat I've ever had knew exactly why they were in trouble, since they acted like they were in trouble anytime in happened.

I've never had cats that marked outside of training.

Yep. Used to get so mad at my old cat for pissing all over my clothes, backpack, etc. when it turned out he was super sick for months... Talk about guilt. Poor kitty.
