Called it. (as if it was a risky prediction to say that a guy who's been a top-5 pitcher for at least the past three years would again be really good...but still )

He's 28 - should be at the peak of his powers and he seems to be. This year in general has been nuts in general. If every pitcher ended the season with the K% they have now, 5 of the top 23 all-time season marks would come from this year.

Tangentially related to the "juiced ball" discussions, I'm looking at the numbers - holy crap is something going on. This year's rate isn't "PED era-esque" because that undersells it - it's the highest rate in history by a wide margin, well above everything but the absolute height of the PED era.

Tebow Called Up To Help Mets Pray For Season To Be Over

The New York Mets never expected to call up Tim Tebow from the minors this year. However, considering how they’ve been playing, the front office decided the team could really use his help with praying for the season to be over.

envelope,

two side notes
1) I didn't realize Tebow was playing in the minors.
2) I am loving that Mets uniform. 10/10.

Tigers trade J.D. Martinez to the D-Backs for prospects. Sad to see J.D. go, but he's a free agent at the end of the year. They got back three players, two of whom are top-20 in the Tigers system. Not bad for three months of a player who might head right back to town on a FA contract.

He's actually playing pretty well for the level he's at.

I predict Panda will end up signing in Japan where he will briefly be a fan favorite before they realize he sucks, discovers chanko, blows up to 350+ and enjoys a second career as a sumo wrestler.

At least I hope that's what happens

Seems likely Pablo is headed back to SF via a minor league contract. Not sure he can ever be that good again but he was pretty good during his initial Giants tenure. I'll never forget his performance during the 2012 WS for one

Yeah, he's way past his prime at this point. That's why they released him. They need the roster spot for someone productive since they appear to be headed for the postseason.

SF, not so much. Let him come back and retire as a Giant. he had some good years there.

Yea, he did have some good years. He's actually not that old, 30, but I guess the way his conditioning is that's old enough. Be cool to see Panda play a few more games as a Giant before he's done

If they put him on the major league roster, it will be a publicity ploy. Which will help him get that Japan contract I'm counting on. . Even if it doesn't happen, I'm thinking of writing a book pretending it did.

I'm thinking they call him up from double A right at at the end of the year when they are mathematically out of it and let him announce his retirement.

Eh, the Rocks and D-Backs are 11 games back - they're no longer competing against the Dodgers unless they're playing a game against them. The Rocks and D-Backs are now competing against the Brewers and Cubs (and maybe the Pirates and Cards).

Makes sense. Then he can sign the Japan contract. 🇯🇵
