Dig it except for the keyboards. Dig King's tone on that song.

This isn't weird. And I didn't know that Mark King could restrain himself from doing annoying as shit slap runs for a whole song!

Because every keyboardist on an instrumental featuring a bass dork has to do their best Jam Hammer impression.

When everything I've listened to on a surface level has had blindingly bright tone and slap bass on a bunch of it, I'm not really inspired to delve further to find the not annoying bits.

Sounds like a Les Claypool vocal. Otherwise, nice groove.

I almost wrote that but I thought I may end up in a situation where the music that is playing is beyond my control...

I'll rephrase it. I didn't hate it but I won't listen to it again if I have any choice in the matter

I like pretty much everything that MK & SC are involved in.

That being said...

...eh.

Color me underwhelmed.

I listened to it again through my big speakers. I think they're just all trying to prove a little bit too much that they can play we know that they're bad asses in their own right so they should just sit back and find some more soulful groove rather than this white guy rap nonsense.

That's the problem with every "super group" ever. A bunch of savant wankers will always be incapable of rocking

I haven't heard any substance abuse horror stories about any of these fellow men, so I am not accusing........

But doesn't this project seem like the kind of thing that was a better idea while drunk/stoned/coked of out one's mind?

Not saying they were.........

Yeah, I've actually backed you up quite a bit on EB with regards to Level 42 and Mark King, and I've listened to a shitload of Level 42 myself. But, you know, whatever.

I never said I don't like Mark King or Level 42, but unless he's rocking some synth bass, he's usually got a super bright slap tone going on.

If you've listened to a shitload of Level 42, then you know what I meant by that! I will agree that his tone is a tad...........metallic..........and not in a good way, but there are several songs where what he's playing is worth listening to, even if you find the tone annoying!

Plus.......Muthafukka can sing, while playing those lines, and chewing gum, so.........I say get past the annoying tone. But, as I said before............whatevs! Diff'rent strokes!

The guitarist from necrophagist can do insane shedding on guitar and do vocals. In 13/4. Doesn't mean the music isn't annoying. Talent does not automatically equal enjoyable music. You love the dude, that's cool. More power to you and all that.

Hence the reason I said Diff'rent Strokes to begin with!
