Dude. this Sunday is the Bug In at Bandimere Speedway. Biggest Volkswagen event of the year. Probably a lot of cars for sale as well.

You should go.
I should NOT go somewhere with lots of VWs for sale

I'm heading up to the mountains for a weekend with the family on Saturday, but me and my bro-in-law are going to see one of my favorite local bands in Denver Friday night.

What time are you planning on getting into town on Friday? If you're around, definitely drop me a line and come hang. I'll PM you my digits shortly.

Where is the show? How far from like Longmont or Brighton?

Downtown Denver @ Herb's Bar.

Probably 40 minutes from Longmont; closer to 30 minutes from Brighton.

Right on. I'm trying to figure out the logistics, and whether I wanna try to navigate Denver on my own or not...

There's an express bus that goes from Longmont to downtown. The L bus. I take it somewhat often. Only bummer is the last bus leaves Denver around 10:00, so that kinda limits your night life.

Are you trying to get me drunk and take advantage of me?

I've got some "unique" ideas in mind that will likely require a certain state of inebriation. Grab a helmet and buckle in, buddy.

Looks like I'm going to be hanging out on Sunday as well, as we don't want to drive all day Friday, hang out Saturday, drive all day sunday. just too much car time...

What's cool to do with a 10 year old and a 13 year old? they like water parks and stuff, might be cool to be outside instead of inside? probably not into hiking, but maybe.

Hrm...If you're in Longmont, I'd check out the Avery Brewery. The tour is cool, the food is freaking amazing, and the beer is awesome as well. Even if you're in Brighton, the drive still isn't horrible. Not exactly outdoors, but still a good time.

https://www.averybrewing.com/hours-and-tours

If water parks are an option, you could do Water World which is in the Northern suburbs of Denver. Though, I should throw out there that I haven't been to Water World since I was a kid, and it was a pretty big shitshow back then.

https://www.waterworldcolorado.com

I'm clearly into brewery tours, which are cool for those of all ages (except for the drinking part, obviously), so you could check out the Coors brewery in Golden, the Budweiser brewery in Fort Collins, or the New Belgium brewery in Fort Collins. Fort Collins is probably 30-45 minutes North of where you'll probably be. I highly recommend New Belgium if you head that way. Cool ass brewery.

If you're not too into hiking, but still want to get outside, maybe take a trip to Red Rocks in Morrison. Best fucking place EVAR to see a show, and it's totally open to the public, so you can hike up and check it out.

redrocksonline.com

You could also hike up to Chautauqua Park in Boulder. Beautiful views and not that bad of a hike. Also a very cool place to see a show.

Yes.....yes you should. And they race 1/4 miles too. Plenty of 11 second cars there.

You could go to Pearl Street in Boulder and check out the street performers on Friday & Saturday evenings. They're pretty entertaining. Tons of little shops and places to snack/eat. Chocolate factory, Ben & Jerry's, that sort of thing. If you've never been down there before, it's pretty neat.

Lots of people love Estes Park, but I think it's weird. It has a main street with a bunch of little shops and stuff too. The lake is neat, the Stanley Hotel is pretty cool, and the Big Thompson runs through the town. Do not eat at Estes Park Brewing if you go. :barf:

Lyons is pretty neat. Lyons Classic Pinball is rad if you like pinball, a river runs through the town and people tube it all the time. There's a pretty standard put-in at the wooden bridge and a take out before the Kayak course. The original Oskar Blues brewery/restaurant is in Lyons too and I dig that place.

Not much to do in Longmont. Cool record store on 3rd and Main. Lots of breweries, but you have the kids. Good BBQ at Georgia Boys if you want to check that out tomorrow. It's around the corner from my favorite Longmont brewery, Wibby Brewing. 3rd and Coffman, maybe?
